NFL Celebrities Score - Gala raises $212k for Center for Child Protection

KB Home, Lexus of Austin and the National Football League’s Alumni Association Austin Chapter joined forces for another recent football-themed, two-day fundraiser for the Center for Child Protection.

Approximately 260 philanthropic partygoers attended the 11th annual Caring for Kids Banquet at the Lakeway Resort. Football fans mingled during a cocktail reception with NFL celebrities. A steak dinner was served by “food caddies” with the player’s names on their uniforms.

Informative Letter to Membership - April 2013

Recently, there have been headlines announcing an initiative on brain injury treatment in conjunction with Neuralstem, Inc.  The NFLAA is not affiliated in this trial.  The article states that Neuralstem is joining with NFLAA to work towards developing a treatment for traumatic brain injury; it is misleading to state that Neuralstem is “joining” with the NFLAA in this regard.  The only connection between NFLAA and Neuralstem is the fact that NFLAA informed members that they should contact Neuralstem directly if they wanted more info on Neuralstem’s efforts, as seen in this letter sent April

COMMISSIONER GOODELL HONORED BY NEUROSURGICAL SOCIETY OF AMERICA
NFL Commissioner ROGER GOODELL on Monday accepted the Neurosurgical Society of America Medal for Outstanding Service, which the association presented to the league for its leadership in helping make football and other sports safer.

The National Football League’s NFL Total Wellness is a comprehensive program for current and retired players and their families that includes a confidential mental health service, NFL Life Line.

This consultation service run by Link2HealthSolutions, who administers the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, will inform players and family members about the signs of crisis, symptoms of common mental health problems, as well as where to get help.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame will be honoring Paul Brown, Len Dawson, Rod Woodson and Bob Griese once again by recognizing them as Hometown Hall of Famer’s. The presentations are part of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Hometown Hall of Famers™ program, in which Hall of Famers are presented with a historical plaque in their hometown. Presented by Allstate Insurance Company, the program honors the roots of the players’ great careers and promotes the positive values of the sport.
