NEWARK, NJ (Sept. 12, 2013) – NFL Alumni Association (NFLAA) members
will have access to deeply discounted health care, products and services under an
agreement that the NFLAA has reached with healthcare providers Maximized Living.
“Health is the number-one concern for retired NFL players, and we are proud to offer
our members a program that provides affordable care geared toward former athletes,”
said NFLAA CEO and President Joe Pisarcik. “Our goal is to give our members
a valuable resource they can use to improve all aspects of their wellness, which
will help them lead healthy, happy, productive lives after their playing days are
done.”
Under the agreement with the NFLAA, Maximized Living (ML) will:
- Provide discounted access to Maximized Living’s 5 Essentials™ of Healthy Living
to NFL Alumni members to naturally treat conditions specific to high-velocity injuries
of the head, neck, spine, and extremities and lifestyle-related maladies common
to former athletes.
- Set up a local Healthy Living Workshop at each NFLAA Chapter location nationally.
- Support the NFLAA Chapters in their grass-root efforts to serve the community, raise
funds for children’s charities, and create awareness.
“This is an exciting partnership for us at Maximized Living. Many former athletes
suffer from injuries related to their playing days. Fortunately, we have found
a health-care alternative that works. Partnering with great organizations
like the NFLAA helps us reach these athletes to offer a much-needed solution to
these otherwise debilitating issues,” said Ben Lerner, co-founder of Maximized Living
and a former All-American collegiate athlete.
ML doctors already work with dozens of current and former NFL players, and they
have a thriving relationship with the Nashville, Tenn. Chapter. ML is currently
the performance chiropractic team for USA Wrestling, US Martial Arts and US Paralympic
Volleyball. They also have been providing nutrition and fitness education
for the US Olympic Education Center at the University of Northern Michigan, and
just conducted a nutrition and performance webinar for the LPGA. ML doctors
provided wellness and performance care at the 2012 Olympic Games for USA Judo, USA
Wrestling and USA Weightlifting and are currently preparing athletes for the 2016
Games in Brazil.
Nick Goings, who was with the Carolina Panthers for eight seasons, has been under
ML’s care for four years: “As with most professional athletes my body took a beating
during my career and I suffered from a few serious concussions. After retiring
from the game, my long-term health became my utmost priority and the birth of my
daughter only intensified my desire to maintain outstanding total body/mind/spirit
condition for the rest of my life. Chiropractic care has become an integral
part of my routine and Maximized Living has helped me focus on living a more holistic,
healthier lifestyle. I used to have persistent headaches that are now non-existent
and my aches and pains have dissolved. The Maximized Living offices that my
family has had the pleasure of being a part of have positive and healthy environments
that promote awareness and provide a lot of information that we have been able to
integrate for our family’s well-being.”
Al Smith, President of the NFLAA Tennessee Chapter, was a Pro Bowl Linebacker and
played 10 seasons for the Houston Oilers. Smith began working with his local
ML center in early 2012, and has received regular care since early 2013. Smith
says the spinal correction improves his ability to function and recover from workouts
faster. In addition, the ML program has had a positive effect on joint stiffness.
“Maximized Living sustains health and improves quality of life,” Smith explained.
His results led, in part, to his seeking a more formal agreement with ML for his
chapter.
The ML programs will begin in the following NFLAA Chapter locations: Austin, Charlotte,
Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Minnesota, and Tennessee. In addition, doctors are
available to help anywhere there is an ML office nationwide. NFLAA members
